Hello, my name is Mishma, and welcome to my corner of the internet. I enjoy stories about magic, romance, and gothic settings. I am passionate about diverse stories that center joy, specific subcultures, and lived-in and shared experiences.

I grew up in Colombo, Sri Lanka, and got my BA in English and Creative Writing from the University of Iowa. Post-graduation, I was an editorial assistant at Little Brown Books for Young Readers in NYC, where I worked on picturebooks through YA books. I was also a senior editor at The Tempest, a global feminist publication, where I oversaw the News and Social Justice section, and worked with writers from different backgrounds and parts of the world.

As an editor, I enjoy working with children’s books, and as a writer, I focus on nonfiction and digital journalism, and on topics of cultural criticism and social justice. If you’d like to work with me in either capacity, feel free to contact me via email or connect with me on twitter.
